SINGER PROFILES

CDR ANTHONY GADALETA, USN '79 Commander Gadaleta attended Naval Flight School, Pensacola, Florida where he earned his "Wings of Gold" as a Flight Officer in 1980. His first tour was with Patrol Squadron 49, Jacksonville, FL and twice deployed to the Mediterranean Sea flying the P-3C Orion ASW Patrol Plane out of Sicily, Spain and Greece. In 1983, he was transferred to shore duty with the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington DC, serving as Chief of Naval Personnel of the Congressional Liaison Branch. His DC duties included preparation of responses to members of Congress on behalf of the Secretary of the Navy. After dry dock in DC, he was transferred (1987) to serve aboard the USS Coral Sea (CV43) where he was twice deployed to the Mediterranean. Aboard CV43 he qualified as a Tactical Action Officer.In 1989, Tony moved on to Patrol Squadron 50 at NAS Moffett Field (San Jose), CA, where he served as a Flight and tactics instructor for the P-3C Orion and supervised training school for electronics and aviation technicians for the PAC Fleet Patrol Squadrons. In 1993, he was transferred to Norfolk, VA for duty as a Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer.In 1996, Commander Gadaleta was installed as the Executive Officer for NROTC at Miami (Ohio) University where he is today. Commander Gadaleta wears the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals (5), and several unit and service awards. He holds an MS in Systems Management from USC and an MS in Systems Analysis from Miami (Ohio). Tony and his wife Lisa reside in Oxford, OH with their daughter, Elizabeth. GLENN A. REITMEIER '77 Glenn is Vice President of HDTV at the Sarnoff Corporation, Princeton, NJ. He was one of the leading contributors to establishing the Digital Television standard that was approved by the FCC in 1996. Glenn led Sarnoff 's team in the development of the advanced HDTV system which pioneered the use of packetized data transport and signal compression. His team\rquote s technical accomplishments became the basis of Grand Alliance HDTV and the Hughes/DirectTV Digital Satellite System (DSS). The breakthrough in Grand Alliance HDTV won an Emmy award in 1996.Earlier in his career, Glenn was a contributor to the establishment of the world's first digital television standards. As Vice President of HDTV, he is also responsible for other programs which combine digital video and computing techniques to create new capabilities for advanced computer systems and new consumer electronics.Sarnoff Corporation was founded in 1942 as RCA Laboratories. Sarnoff's contribution to television and media is somewhat as legendary as its founder, David Sarnoff. The 1996 Emmy award was their fourth such award. Glenn holds a M.S.E. in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and has taught several graduate and undergraduate courses in digital signal processing at Villanova. He holds over 40 patents in digital television technology and has authored numerous technical papers on the topic. Glenn resides in Yardley, PA.
